MAHAKALA DHARMA DEFENDER

Mahakala-Dharma-Defender-Kyle-Fite

Mahakala Dharma Defender Artflip Talisman

At Space Hoodoo HQ, we have created a small talisman which serves the Dharma through its Transmutative Tendency. This is the Mahakala DD Artflip.

In previous blogs, we’ve discussed how coins acquire a build up of energy over years of contact with numerous environments and situations. The more intense the energy field, the more of an imprint is left within the coin. Such fields of experience may include the joyful and ecstatic but more often than not, they are vivified by intense fear and anger.

Of all objects, most coins would befuddle any attempt at psychometric investigation. There is simply too much information as most loose change tends to be “on the move,” changing hands and changing lanes.

Coins route all of this incoming energy into chambers corresponding to energy level and type. The dominant “coloration” of each coin gives it a unique energetic signature-and THIS is what may be psychometrically divined. For this purpose, Astrological language and symbol is highly practical. Thus, we may regard a particular coin as being predominantly Mercurial, Venusian, Martial and so forth.

Most coins we will encounter are of the Martial variety.

To make practical use of this fact, we chose the image of Mahakala to serve as a Transmutative Agent whereby the coin’s energy signature may function as a type of battery for the empowerment of Dharma Defense within the consciousness of its carrier.

Mahakala is an impressive Deity venerated in many Eastern Schools. As consort of Kali, he is most absolutely a Fierce God, a Destroyer. He is, from this standpoint, the epitome of the Martial. This power, however, typifies the vanquishing effects of TIME. In this regard, we may find a strong Saturnian energy present. On an even deeper level, the Mahakala is just that: Maha (BEYOND) Kala (TIME). The tearing down of that which is subject to time tends toward the Gnosis which is Beyond Time.

This artflip is intended for display on an active altar or within a shrine. It may carried upon one’s person to maintain contact with the Trans-Plutonic Consciousness which is to say, the Dharma. As a radionic device, it is meant to attract, absorb and transmute the five Kleshas into the five Wisdoms.

This object is hand crafted to order. Each coin is selected from our collection and placed in an artflip painted specifically for you.

The Mahakala DD Artflip is being offered at $25. To carry it with awareness is to take the Middle Way (Mahayana) between Form and Void, to be “In the World but not OF IT.” As we are busy with numerous projects and each Artflip is made by hand, we cannot guarantee that this item will be offered indefinitely. Please contact us as to availability.

Form or Void? It Depends…

hui

When the historic Buddha died, he left behind two bodies, the Form Body and the Dharma Body. The former was his physical vehicle and, by extension, included those material objects closely connected to it, such as his robe or begging bowl. For his surviving followers, these items were regarded as a vital link to the Enlightened One and became objects of veneration.

The Dharma Body, on the other hand, was far less material. This Body was comprised of the teachings of the Buddha. However, the idea that the Dharma Body was merely a collection of Sutras misses the point. The Sutras are an expression of the Enlightenment of the Buddha and, therefore, the Dharma Body is that very Enlightenment Itself.

Because this is the case, veneration of objects or the so-called “Form Body” may seem a bit absurd. After all, the Enlightenment of the Buddha has declared that Form is Void.

However, that same Enlightenment also declared that Void is Form. Yet if this true, we may ask if some Forms are more Void than others. And then we might as well just sit down and take the brass knuckles of the Buddha’s Fist square in the jaw. It’s ALL Void, from the scrap of loincloth supposedly worn beneath the Bodhi Tree to the Chicken Nuggets handed out through a drive-through window in a bag made from 90% recycled paper.

I find it quite ironic that Zen Patriarch Hui Neng communicated all of this so clearly and yet his followers mummified his body to worship!

If you cannot understand your own flesh and blood as the Form Body of the Buddha, you will never touch the Form Body…which is also the Void Body….which is No Body, at all.

The Lifespan Chapter of the Lotus Sutra lays out the situation. The historic Buddha (Shakyamuni, Guatama, Siddartha etc), was not THE Buddha but simply a Spacetime Manifestation of the Thus Come One who has endured from countless ages past. When the Thus Come One reveals his Lifespan in the Lotus Sutra, we understand “Buddha” to mean something much more than a historical personage. “The Buddha” is the True Entity of Life Itself which must be present in All Life. As the T’ien T’ai school teaches the Oneness of Life and its Environment (and Environment also encompasses the subjectivity of perception), we seek in vain for a Realization of the Buddha outside ourselves.

This simplicity, however, seems to be too much for most people and, as a result, we find humans venerating other humans as somehow superior to themselves. True Teachers attempt to guide the hungering souls around them into this Wisdom but it’s all but impossible. I cannot tell you how many times I’ve heard human parrots talking about how “Swami X wants us to think for ourselves.”

Of course, Swami X would be put out of business and have to resort to the begging bowl if his followers ever did just this. You can’t have an Ashram full of Gurus.

Hence, the Invisibles, the “Trashman Grand Master” ala Hesse’s Journey to the East, The Rosicrucians (who aren’t wont to advertise themselves). You can’t find them out and they won’t be replying to your Facebook comments.

There is only one way to make contact and that is by becoming one of them. Yet almost all “Aspirants” seem to think that contacting them is essential to becoming them. I knew a fellow who drove all over the West Coast looking for a Guru. Apparently, it was the place to find one. Decades passed and the guy is still as lost as ever. Of course, Swami X will just rephrase Tolkien’s “Not all who wander are lost,” pass the collection plate and keep the game going.

Guruyoga is a very subtle art. Once skill is therein achieved, an outside observer wouldn’t be able to identify Guru or Chela.

I know of one young man who entered fully into this field. There was no speaking to him of his Teacher, his Guru. There was only speaking-and speaking from the heart. If this sounds like a warm and fuzzy interchange, you’d be sadly mistaken. The Fire of Spirit Illumines the Way, it is true. It also burns down all that is not Itself.

The Dharma Body is what gives the Form Body its FORM.

Without this Knowing, the loincloth of the Buddha is just another pair of dirty Depends.

Coin Errors appear in a wide variety. We’ve written previously that the aims of the Numisgnostic are not necessarily those of the Numismatic. We’re not evaluating the topography of a coin based on how much it might be worth in the collector’s market. Rather, each coin has been imbued in its Spacetime voyage with an energetic history, a history witnessed by-and worn into-the surface of the coin.

Because we actively work with coins according to their content as such, we are not merely collectors. The “rarest” coin in the world may sit in a vault and serve no other purpose than gratifying its owner for having acquired something which seems significant. On the other hand, coins of power may pass from pocket to pocket without ever having that power tapped, directed or bringing about effect in the world.

The key is understanding how to identify, act upon and direct content.

From a practical standpoint (and real magic is ultimately a practical matter), imagine how significant our million dollar rarity seems to us when we’re gasping through crushed lungs on an interstate smash-up.

On the flip (pun possibly intended), imagine the value of a coin functioning as an active and operative talisman, serving as payment on a ferry between dimensions, delivering us from “Stuck” to “Onward.”

Despite our expressly magical approach to coinage, Numisgnosis is not hardly sneering at recognized mint errors in the “field.” There is simply an added level of interpretation, a different approach to designations of “significance.”

In the Corrosion Corp (which is the Numisgnostic Field Division), the real factor of significance is YOU. Of course, YOU are much more than you may be aware of. Ergo, the work with coins will follow after exercises intended to illuminate this fact. Going beyond this, you will be able to discern in each and every coin you find a content worthy of Alchemy on the spot.

It just so happens that some of these coins WILL contain coveted “mint errors” and these will be read and applied from a standpoint differing from that in the “marketplace.”

While working through rolls of coinage at Space Hoodoo HQ, we discovered an amazing CUD. This is, in essence, the result of a die breakage at the mint whereby the hot metal pools up onto the surface of a coin and creates a disfigured disc. The less than perfect coin escapes into circulation and we find it.

Now, the die is the set form. This doesn’t imply some horrible or imprisoning script we can only hope to escape from. We might regard the die as imprinting something akin to the Qabala’s Tree of Life. A Structural Form which represents a Totality of Being.
The CUD creates a COMMENTARY. It’s akin to an arrow shot into a Map of the Tree, marking the Zone most critical to your ongoing Pilgrimage. If one understands the Mandala (which is what a coin really IS), one can understand (and make use of) the marking!

When the Die breaks, a portal opens into neighboring realms. You can avail yourself of the opportunity and jump through.

Is this decision wise or foolish?

If you understand the Mandala, you will be able to see what the CUD signifies. Even if one lacks knowledge of a Mandalic Framework, any CUD will trigger a response from the Deep Mind.

The fact that a CUD error has reached you indicates that its passage through time and space has not been obstructed. Therefore, the CUD occurred specifically for YOU.
For the Numisgnostic, then, there will be no deliberation as to whether or not one should leap through this portal. What we’re looking at here is the Golden Opportunity.

Of course, our encountering a Mandala Access Point (M.A.P.) via the CUD points toward the same underlying principle manifesting through the innumerable surface scars borne by each and every coin. This leads us to the exercise of wherein a roll of 50 coins is obtained and the Numisgnostic is able to use each and every one as a Talismanic M.A.P.. There is no “sorting and searching” for something “of value.” Rather, each coin is assessed in relation to the Mandala.

The Mandala is not something which can simply be studied and learned. If this were the case, assessing any deviation from the Die would simply be a matter of intellect. It would be akin to reading a cipher.

To truly read the Mandala, one must understand what it is. This entails a type of feedback from the Formless into Form. Elements are understood energetically. This requires continuous practice.

Agents in the Corrosion Corp have gone through their “boot camp.” From this, they have brought their skill-set to the battlefield. Post-skirmish, the C.C. Agent applies this Coin Work to every aspect of navigating the Universe.

Ore at the Core

“For those to whom a stone reveals itself as sacred, its immediate reality is transmuted into supernatural reality. In other words, for those who have a religious experience all nature is capable of revealing itself as cosmic sacrality.”
~ Mircea Eliade

These wonderful words from Eliade could be restated with “Penny” taking the place of “Stone.”

Of course, “Penny” could be replaced with “Nickel,” “Quarter,” “Driftwood” or any other object we happen upon during this terrestrial voyage. This is a key point in our commentaries on Numisgnostic Endeavor. While the Corrosion Corp has been focused on the humble American cent, the underlying principles of this Arte will be found applicable to ANY object in Nature. In fact, as it extends its reach, Numisgnosis indicates work beyond the limitations of “objects.” Relationships between experience points will serve the same purpose as the Talismanic Coin.

But we start simply, spring-boarding off Abe Lincoln’s right cheekbone.

The value system of the Numisgnostic is not the same as the Numismatic.

The Numismatic understands the value and rareity of a coin based upon standards set within the field. The Numisgnositic understands that every single coin is a “rare.”

Knowing this, certain qualities are targeted during a coin search. These become amplified during “Art Flipping.” This is where the work of the artist expresses what Eliade calls the “supernatural reality.”

The whole of Nature, which is to say Experiential Reality, is seen as Alive-and we are brought back to Blake’s famous words: “Everything that Lives is Holy.”

Our most recent coinflip, crafted from this vantage point, contains a Canadian Coin bound to a small piece of Peacock Ore, broken off from one of the Living Stones at SpaceHoodoo HQ. The fusion of these two objects in Spacetime forms a “SpaceBuddhaa Mandala” and is dedicated to Kokuju, the Space Dweller Buddha of the Lotus Sutra.

METAMORPH!

DE

“We might approach the Tarot…with a pressing concern. It could a “mundane” worry. And this is quite allright. Michael Bertiaux’s HOARD OF GOLD lessons, for example, remind us that when we are occupied with such mundane worries, our energy and attention flows in that direction. We are thus disadvantaged with regards to our deeper purpose, to become a True Resident of the Spirit World we are now only contacting.

“It would be a crippling approach, however, if we were to postpone Initiation until we had handled our earthly struggles. Vudu has never divorced itself from the flesh and blood world we inhabit. There is no need to divide the so called “Profane” from the Sublime and Spiritual. If we enter each Query with a view toward our unfolding Spiritual Vision, we can “hijack” the situation and feed its energy into our own Soul-Growth.”

-from the Metamorphic Tarot of the Spirits

UPDATE on THE METAMORPHIC TAROT:

This Tarot has been a long time coming. Especially for those who pre-ordered in 2015. It originated as the “Lucky Hoodoo Tarot” in Wisconsin, 2014. The sketches and half done paintings were transported to British Columbia where work on them continued. At one point, the images were soaked in the waters of Kootenay Bay and cut into with blades to add texture. The Hoodoo Pilot Bardo Tarot and Bardo Bear Storytime Tarot were generated but the Metamorphic Tarot remained unfinished. It returned to Wisconsin in a snowstorm, endured a Season of Sweat and is now FINISHED.

The deck and accompanying book with tipped on color plate will be sent out to those who have ordered it by the end of the week. The deepest appreciation is sent to those who have patiently waited for their cards to arrive.

The METAMORPHIC TAROT gave birth to the Space Buddhaa Angelic Contact Tarot which is in process. This deck will have no pre-order and will only be offered after completion.

We hope those who receive the METAMORPHIC TAROT enjoy it and find in its gallery of images a Doorway into the Vuduverse.

BREAK A BUCK & TRY YOUR LUCK

change
After one has found their Numisgnostic Contact Coin (also known as the “Portal Penny”) and begun acquiring some of the basic supplies needed for continued work (see our previous entry in this series), there is the issue of how to acquire further coins.

It’s true that Pennies will continually present themselves along the Path. They’ll be spied in both strange and commonplace spaces, handed out from cash registers with a fistfull of change and even gifted to you as others begin to learn of your new found “hobby.” To be continually active in a variety of Numisgnostic Operations, however, you’ll definitely want to increase the regular flow of coinage in your sphere of Work. Banks aren’t terribly surprised when coin-collecting customers “purchase” bulk rolls of any denomination and avid searchers will frequently walk in and out the doors with quite a bundle.

In my own experience, however, I began examining coins without the money to purchase-or time to sort through and exchange-a full “bank box.” If one is approaching this work with the primary goal of discovering some beyond rare mint-error (and retiring after the auction), it only makes sense to increase the “chance of winning” with this approach. In Numisgnosis, however, the searching is primarily concerned with Psychometric Finds and my own limits, with both funds and time, led to a more quick and concentrated approach, utilizing single rolls of Pennies. I would acquire these, not from banks, but cashiers (guaranteed to be a bit more baffled by the roll request than your local banker).

fire

Basically, if you have 50 cents, you can ask to swap it for a roll of Pennies almost anywhere. The gas station, grocery store, wherever. I’ve been told “no” but this is part of the voyage. Move on and hit up the next likely locale. If you’ve got a dollar, it will score you TWO rolls (100 coins) and, in context of Magickal and Psychometric Investigation, this is quite the pile!

Some will want to set up several “bins” at Home Base where acquired coins can be seperated. One bin can be for those swapped and another for those returned with change. A box can be set up for those found on the street and another for those gifted from others (and don’t be shy about asking friends and family to hang onto their pennies for you…most people won’t find the monetary value of a few cents of any concern but they WILL enjoy making someone else’s day with a little gift).

pennies

Some Corp Members will keep an elaborate and detailed record to observe trends in the flow. This is, admittedly, tedious but worthwhile. By noting WHAT you acquire and through WHICH Channels, you begin to get a picture of the Invisible Forces working through your activity in Numisgnosis. For example, out of 10 rolls you’ve swapped out around town, you might notice that 1981 D cents dominate the total haul. You might only have found a single 1963 from a thousand.
One one hand, this situation may reflect the simple odds of finding any given coin in circulation. On the other, the Numisgnostic, working actively with the Contact Coin as a Beacon into the Magickal Universe, will find that certain coins will truly be attracted to him (or her)! They will travel long distances over periods of time to arrive in the Temple.
There is an interplay between Chance and Intention here-and this interplay is similar to how we find ourselves in this Spacetime Environment as Entities with Power to Effect Change and Decision Making Capacity interacting with a seemingly Objective World in which events occur outside of our Willing.

From this vantage point, our continuing work in this field may be likened to certain games which evoke Chance, Choice and Magick (again in the Crowleyan sense, Old Crow having stated that “Every Intentional Act is a Magickal Act”).

We’ll address some of these games down the line. They include Magic The Gathering which (along with many others like it) may be used as a Vehicle for Spiritual Growth. The point is: Numisgnosis, as we’ve discussed it thus far, will be profitably treated as such a Gamespace IF we regard Gaming as a Spiritual (and, perhaps more appropriately, SHAMANIC) Endeavor.

For the moment, don’t let a lack of funds foil the fun or stay the Way. Swap a buck and try your luck. Not unlike booster packs purchased for Magic, each roll of Lincolns is guaranteed to contain at least ONE “Rare.” If you don’t see it, sort ’em until you DO.

We’ll eventually get to the Mission where you swap two bits for a roll and find EVERY SINGLE COIN to be a SUPER CHARGED WINNER.

But that Mission has nothing to do with Luck of the Draw…it’s balls out Shamanix.

Corrosion Corp Supply Drop (Mission 1.5)

bbearshield

Communicating, as I do, with many folks who struggle to simply make ends meet (and often come up short-handed at that!), I am a bit hesitant to present a Numisgnostic “Shopping List.”

And might this not be contradicting my last entry wherein I stated that none should be barred from this Work for lack or want?

However, this may prove to be one of the first challenges for the Numisgnostic Neophyte with an empty cupboard. How can one purchase coin-collecting supplies when there isn’t even enough loose change lying about to pay the rent?

The Contact Coin of Mission One is now to be worked with in this regard. This singular object, once rightly found, becomes a Beacon and it will, especially via the “Conceal and Carry” Method, open up Channels whereby one will get just what one needs.

block

This Field Agent’s Glock was a Decoy-and he laughed his way to the Bank

A good portion of this phenomena is fed by the Shift in Consciousness experienced by the Numisgnostic, a Shift which “looks upon the World anew” and sees what one was previously blind to. There IS a Way and we suddenly experience a rising Faith in this Fact. If it’s not apparent, we challenge our sight instead of bemoaning our “Fate.” Our situations become puzzles, mazes and riddles whose answer we may not know but are, none the less, certain exists.

The Numisgnostic, therefore, Seeks-and Finds, growing more deeply in the Arte.

“Problems” become “Missions.”

“I’m trading these Tags for a Roll of 50…”

Not everyone will have an issue with purchasing a few basic items. But everyone WILL have issues. We simply wish to call attention to Numisgnostic Bushido in this regard as it applies to ALL conundrums faced on the Path. Skills obtained herein are of manifold application and without application there can be no “Numisgnosis.”

The list of items one should obtain at the Start include:

Coin Flips, Sharpie fine tipped art pens and boxes and containers of every sort.

AND a 10x Loupe which is, basically, a magnifying glass (preferably with an inbuilt light), allowing you to examine your coins with greater power than your God-given sight can grant.

Magnification_power_of_a_loupe

Numisgnostic Eye Exam

The Loupe will also be essential for experiments with the coins as Magic Mirrors and Transdimensional Gateways. I purchased my current Loupe for under $10 and carry it with me at all times. It doesn’t need to be fancy. It just needs to do the job-and also be at the ready.

Now a word on Coin Flips. These may be purchased for a very small price IF one wishes to acquire the sort which is stapled shut. And then one will also need a STAPLER.

I’ve worked with these flips quite a bit but don’t recommend them. Yes, it costs a bit more to purchase the self-adhesive kind but these really ARE far superior for our purposes. There are two concerns here. The first is Hermetically seeing a coin and the second is working the Flip as a Magical Artwork in conjunction with the coin.

When utilizing the stapled flips, I’ve also employed superglue to “seal the deal.” This can become a messy matter and I would typically end up with my fingertips stuck together. I also worked with the staples in relation to the art but in the end, these became a hindrance to what could be done with the visual space around the circular center.

Either way, we will want to get any number of coins into flips. This is NOT to protect a possible “hot find” with potential Numismatic value-but to give it a context wherein we might work upon the disc Magickally (and I DO mean in the Crowleyan sense of “causing change to occur in conformity with Will”).

crowley

“All those years mastering Chess…and I could have been searching Bank Boxes!”

Other items are humble but necessary. A notebook for the “Numisgnostic Log” (elsewhere referred to as the “Magical Diary”) should not be done without.

But the bottom line is: get a package of self-adhesive flips and a 10x Loupe.

And the Sharpies. But make sure they’re the art pens.

Myself, I use a variety of knives, blades, paints and Aqua Net Hairspray. I can’t do without the Hairspray.

The Initiation into Hair-Styling products comes later.

2015 Numignostic Coin Convocation, Madison, Wisconsin, USA

For the moment, we want to be able to really CONNECT with any coin on our Path and this will happen through Psychometry, Examination and Magickal Manipulation.

If these items are beyond your financial reach, ASK the Contact Coin to provide the means to acquire them. I would estimate the total cost at $30, give or take. As stated previosuly, if the Portal Penny has, indeed, been “properly found,” the Gates will OPEN.

If ordering these supplies is an easy matter and you’re ready for the next chapter, chances are…you have some serious issues to be addressed.

That’s OK.

Numisgnosis is READY.

The Skull Beneath The Skin

quarter

Following hot on the heels of a recent Facebook post, where I shared a brief article on “Hobo Skull Coins,” I was astounded to be gifted with with one these items, custom made by Quarter Master, no less!

What’s a “Hobo Skull Coin?”

And Who is “Quarter Master?”

All shall be revealed momentarily.

For the moment, I’d like to look at the Theme Itself.

The Skull remains one of the most omnipresent and ubiquitous image-symbols we encounter in human artistry. It grabs us and just won’t let go. From the Horrific to the Beautiful, the Whimsical to the Sublime, we all recognize and relate to Boneface.

If asked what the Skull is expressing in any context, most folks will be quick to say “Death.” Interestingly, it’s our old friends, the Freemasons, who saw in the Skull something more than Mortality.

Yes, it’s true that the Skull is first encountered in Masonic Symbolism as a reminder of our frail and fleeting lives, a means to take measure of the same, looking toward what we might contribute to the Grand Human Experiment ere it’s over.

The Skull, however, has also been regarded as a Symbol of Immortality, “That Which Remains,” even after the flesh has faded. It thus takes it place with another Masonic Symbol of Primary Importance, the Acacia, retaining its green vitality even in the “Death” of Winter.

masonic_acacia_pyramid_keepsake_round

George Washington, Himself, would appreciate Quarter Master’s manipulation of his visage as America’s first President well understood these Mysteries. The Skull was sometimes called the “Bone Box” among Freemasons. In its mouth was held a Key, never accessed by the Profane but always ready to open the Doors of the Gnosis for those who might enter it with Wisdom and Humility. The Skull, we can now see, expresses Death in Life and Life in Death.

Masonry, at the start, espouses a Teaching on How To Live.

A Brother of the Craft once remarked to me that it was also espousing a Teaching on How To Die.

Now, the Hobo Coin…

I was recently made aware of this collectible coinage via this link:

http://boingboing.net/2015/10/16/coins-carved-to-reveal-skulls.html

Quarter Master wasted no time making me one. I was beyond delighted to receive this gift. It is already a beacon for the Life and Death Complex-but alongside this, it radiates the kindness and love of a friend who crafted an artwork with the intention of making another happy.

THIS is the Masonic Ideal and the Awareness which rises when one is stationed between the Black and White Pillars.

Quarter Master may be found via her Facebook site and she takes custom orders for her unique brand of coin-based jewelry. Prices are beyond reasonable and we recommend her work highly.

As my Numisgnostic bloggery continues, we will look more closely into why Copper is, metaphysically, a significant metal in this Work. For those who may be unaware of the fact, our modern era Quarters are almost wholly made of…Copper. Yes, we call them “Silver” but they are, alchemically speaking, in the same “Family” as the Little Lincolns.

We’ve already begun binding Quarter Punches to Lincoln Cents in our Talismanic Flips.

If one is interested in a hand-crafted Quarter Master Ring, please contact her via this Facebook link:

https://www.facebook.com/quarter.master.54?fref=ts

Yes, these items make wonderful gifts and are a unique and fun item to wear. For those who will be working through exercises on the Numisgnostic Path, these rings will also serve as magical objects of resonant power, ready-made to connect into the Corrosion Cathedral (which is to say, your Numisgnostic Altarspace).

The Skull Beneath The Skin is your End…and Beginning. Both are Present NOW if you’ll but feel your Face and enter your Space.

THE PORTAL PENNY: Corrosion Corp Mission One

angelabyss

Numisgnosis is a Path and, as such, one must discover an Access Point whereby to begin. On this particular journey, we will describe a very simple means to locating and entering the Gateway.

The First Task:

Find a Penny.

This is the Price of Entry. It’s the First Task. But-as common an object as the ubiquitous penny might seem-it must be found in a certain way. Perhaps we ought say:

It must find YOU.

There is an old and oft-quoted adage in occult circles which states “When the student is ready, the master appears.” Ere the unveiling of the “master,” all a student can do is get ready, preparing themselves for the encounter. The master may have walked past them on the street a hundred times but they remain ignorant of this. Thus we find, in Masonic Ritual, for example, the emphasis on being “Duly and Truly Prepared” for what is to come. If consciousness is not aware, receptive and adaptable, what the master has to offer will follow after the proverb of “pearls before swine.”

Of course, it is part of the master’s job to help the student increase those qualities listed above. Ergo, our preparedness is not looking toward some ultimate level of attainment but rather a workable state of being whereby good seed may fall into fertile soil.

In this opening phase of Numisgnostic Initiation, we might envision the “master” as described by Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche who, when questioned as to who he regarded as true and living master, replied:

“Situations are my Guru.”

We might thereby imagine the Master with a Million Faces in a Billion Places. The goal is to first begin seeing these Faces, growing into initiatory interaction and ultimately knowing ourselves as one with that we have sought after.

But we are getting ahead of ourselves here. The first thing to do is to locate the Gate into the World, which is to say THE PROCESS, where these-and other-realizations and power-ups may be discovered. The realizations are themselves Initiations and might be viewed along the lines of successive stages of Illumination as detailed in certain Buddhist Schools. Each stage of Illumination has a corresponding Siddhi (or Magical Power). Often, the Siddhi is sought after with little regard for the Illumination to which it corresponds. In my own experience, it is the Illumination which produces power as an effect. One is suddenly aware of new ability but all preconceptions as to how this might look (or be applied) are transformed by the change in consciousness. The manifestation of any Siddhi almost becomes an afterthought.

Both Illumination and the Manifestation of Siddhis WILL result from the practice of Numisgnosis.

Step One:

Find a Penny.

Upon determining to complete this Task, you should KNOW that there is a PARTICULAR PENNY in your geographic locale which is already YOURS. This is NOT to be found in your pocket change or by purchasing a roll of 50 copper coins in a neatly packaged roll from the bank. Your Penny is “Out There” and will appear, according to your attentiveness and intuition, as an object in your physical environment. It shouldn’t take long to locate. You need simply to relax and bear in mind that this coin is seeking YOU even as you are seeking IT. It may appear in a parking lot, a restroom, an aisle at the grocery store. But it WILL appear. And when it does, it marks the MOMENT in which you take the first substantial step into the Numisgnostic World.

This particular coin is what we will call the PORTAL PENNY. As soon as you see it, you will have established contact with another realm. By picking it up and coming into physical contact with it, you step on through the Gate.

As indicated previously, we aren’t looking for a Numismatic “find” but a Numisgnostic Connection. Your Penny may not be worth a farthing to any other Soul on the planet but to YOU it will be invaluable. This small bit of metal contains an infinitude of information as well as the energy signatures attendant thereunto. The moment when you meet each other is a powerful and dynamic Alchemical phase, the Opening of The Operation. The coin’s content is condensed in that moment. All the energy signatures become vivified along the lines of a horoscope, delineating detailed experience into categorical abstractions which represent powerhouses available for new direction. You see, the coin lacks volition and needs you to provide it. YOU have this volition on a deep (and-for most people-subconscious) level. The coin’s karmic code prods and stimulates this volition by resonating with the energy signatures within your Being.

In essence, the finding of your Portal Penny is a Magical Meeting wherein a Partnership is formed.

Now, many people will spot a wayward coin each day and their lives will go on, “business as usual.” What makes YOUR find different is the inward opening to the Event. Before walking off into the World, you, at the very least, entertain the notion of the Portal Penny to such a degree that its discovery will serve as a field for the implementation of the above-described process.

Otherwise, you’ll just be another flash in the pan spotting a flash in the parking lot.

Although I’ve worked with Numisgnosis for some time, I decided to re-implement this Initial Task for myself in conjunction with writing this text. It just so happened that I was in the company of an individual whose name happens to be Penny. While accompanying her to an Optometry appointment, I spotted my coin on the office floor. How perfect and wonderful. In a clinic for the correction and improvement of sight, I found a magical mirror. I couldn’t have orchestrated this if I tried. But it just came through.

We should never “force a find” nor impose expectation on the experience. If we yearn for “bells and whistles,” we may miss a whispering from that Still Small Voice Within.

Once discovered, the coin is to be regarded as a sacred object and handled accordingly. It will ultimately be placed into a coin flip but if one is without this, it should be wrapped in a clean piece of cloth and kept safe until one’s Numisgnostic Altar is constructed. If intuition dictates, this Penny may be carried on one’s person in a safe and secure fashion.

Such acquisition automatically enters and enrolls one in the Corrosion Corp. Further directives will follow…

The Core of Corrosion

The Agents of Corrosion (i.e. the Copper Carrying Coterie of the Corrosion Corp) are linked via this Group to the Motherboard and Mainframe which is known as the Cult of Phred.

What IS the Cult of Phred-and how could anyone take such a name seriously when there are so many high fallutin’ Latin, French and Enochian Words to use)?

The Cultus (as we were wont to call it) began as a joke made decades ago by a high schooler I never met. The joke was caught in a psychic net by the First Agent. This would be developed to a degree and then passed onto myself when, under auspicious circumstances, I met the First Agent in Rockford, Illinois c. 1997.

As the Second Agent, I took the Cabalistic Cues surrounding this occasion and sent the Yellow Tennis Ball with Smiley Face back across the Court of Last Resort.

The Score?

Love Under Will.

We would go on to discover the Haunted Photocopier and the Cryptic Crossword, receive Communications from the Ghost of William Burroughs and begin mapping the Psychosphere of the American Midwest from one Dunkin Donuts to another. Later on we would locate a tentacled monstrosity occupying the skies above Vienna.

“I’d have spoken to others but these guys were the only ones online at the time…”

The result of all these impossible to believe, yet wholly true, adventures was a Manifesto on the Elixir Vitae which begins with the growth of a single sentient coffee bean in Africa.

If this sounds more Doom Patrol than Golden Dawn, it was…and is.

The First Agent died in 2002.

I had received an audio-missive from him where he stated with clarity and sobriety:

“Life is a Game.

“But it’s a very Serious Game…”

Some messages will come through no matter what….

Now, I recall when I first became enamored with William Blake. I was a teenager and devoured his works with an obsessive rapacity. I quickly learned, through biographical accounts, of his Brother, Robert, with whom William claimed to be in Spirit-Contact. It would be Robert who helped William develop his unique method of printmaking from beyond the grave.

As a young and inexperienced teen-primate seeking to “become himself,” I sought to be like Blake. I guess the 80’s rock stars just didn’t cut it as role-models. My classmates sported the look and sputtered out the (non) values. Meanwhile, I carried around a volume of essays by Harold Bloom and felt that I was nearing Escape Velocity.

“My Name is Harold Bloom…and I’m a Role Model for Teenagers. Now put down the Potter and go read some Milton. ”

Time is folding inward.

The Past is throwing up its Gems as a tidal wave crushes the beach. The Future is showering down Stars which set fire to the Urth.

Corrosion implies two things:

Dissolution and Growth.

As alluded to in our last blog, the Numisgnostic doesn’t “grade coins” as does the Numismatic. The most wretched and worn of discs may very well serve as the Cornerstone for a Church Not Made With Hands.

Copper is the Conductor-not the THING ITSELF.

A Magical Mirror in Action

In this sense, Numisgnosis connects to Spagyrics.

Hell, your HUMAN BODY connects to Spagyrics. It is an ongoing process where growth and decay rely upon each other. As a Branch of Alchemy, we bear influence on the automatic process of Growth/Decay to give it a new direction in accordance with particular spiritual aims.

Those who align with the Corrosion Corp do so in conjunction with the Cult of Phred (C.o.P.) and, thus, become “Coppers.”
This makes of the Initiate a Magical Mirror, a Conductor (implying both Mediumship and active participation in directing movement-and, thus, consequence/effect-on the train track gridwork of experience).

WHAT are we CONDUCTING?

This Question cost the First Agent his Mortal Life. It wasn’t pretty. In fact, it sucked Donkey Balls. Total Fucking Hell.

I helped pull the necktie from his dead throat.

“A Serious Game,” indeed.

These days I’m in Communion with Agent One. It’s a Time Jump from imagining how Robert Blake communicated with his Brother to being in the same sort of direct communication with Agent One.

In essence, The Corrosion Corp takes advantage of the Growth/Decay process on multiple planes of experience to wake up the Sleeping Soul-Self and then rescue it from the Whirlpool into which it has been born.
